In 1999, Bound Together became an independent non-profit organization, working in close partnership with All Saints, as well as other area churches, civic and government agencies, to provide tutoring, a hot evening meal, as well as offering enrichment programming in the arts and healthy lifestyles to up to 31 elementary and now middle school students.
Bound Together’s dedicated volunteers and staff provide 1:1 tutoring for students on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, on-site and virtually, with tutors committing to read, to write, to add/subtract and to laugh with a child on a weekly basis. We also serve a healthy snack, offer some much needed “down time” between school and tutoring, and provide a hot meal before sending students home. Our volunteers are a diverse group: retired engineers, professionals, and educators; they are high school students and medical school students; they are grandmoms and granddads, people from faith communities and civic organizations across Oakland County. The constant variable? All of them are willing to be truly present in the life of a child.
