Centering Prayer

The Centering Prayer group meets before the 10:30 worship service at 9:15 in the church library. No experience or prior knowledge of this quiet, contemplative practice is necessary. All are welcome.

Centering Prayer is a receptive method of Christian silent prayer which deepens our relationship with God, the Indwelling Presence … a prayer in which we can experience God’s presence within us, closer than breathing, closer than thinking, closer than consciousness itself.

Spirituality

The Spirituality Group meets every other Thursday at 7 P.M. on Zoom to meditate, pray, and have loving and confidential discussions about the reading material, our confusion, doubts, and beliefs that further our spiritual development. Acceptance, respect, and trust are the foundation of our discussions. These discussions explore our spiritual development while building and strengthening our relationships with each other. The meetings begin with prayer, 10 minutes of meditation, discussion of the assigned readings andthen close 90 minutes later with another meditation and prayer. While the process and the reading material might change in the future, the sharing, intimacy, love, and spiritual growth remains constant. We have a small group of seven to ten members so the inclusion of a few new members would be easy. Inquiries should be directed to Alan Hoffman at alanhoffman@wayne.edu.

Book Group

The All Saints Book Group met for the first time on November 10, 2010. Since then, it has been meeting once a month at the church to discuss a wide variety of genres. The group is made up of readers from all sorts of backgrounds and interests. We are especially drawn to books that provide a look at something historical that we knew little about. But we have read some fun non-fiction and classics also.

Movie Group

Good movies—new, classic, foreign, documentary—are viewed on Zoom and informally discussed by parishioners and friends twice monthly. The group meets from 7:00 to 9:00 PM, generally on the second and fourth Monday of the month. Details about upcoming movies and the Zoom link are found in the parish newsletter, Saintly Reminder. Everyone is welcome!

Lenten Services

A program is offered on Wednesday evenings in Lent that includes a topic of parish interest following the guidelines of Lenten practice and discipline. The evening begins with soup, salad and bread provided by participants; the program follows and the evening concludes with Compline prayed by all in the sanctuary.
