Mission & Ministry
Those groups include: the after-school tutoring program, Bound Together; the Saturday Community Breakfast; HUGS (Hats, Underwear, Gloves and Shoes) which distributes clothing and personal care items at Saturday breakfasts; emerging health initiatives; and, the Resale Shop, which offers gently-used clothing and household items at reasonable prices to the community. In addition, the Mission and Ministry Committee acts as a liaison to the Vestry for those groups whose work enhances the experience of worship, spiritual growth, and social engagement. These groups would include the Adult Forum, the Liturgy Committee, the Public Square Advocacy Group and the Sacred Ground initiative of the Episcopal Church. The Mission and Ministry Committee, at its monthly meetings seeks to foster greater cooperation and communication among the various church ministries by providing an open forum where each group has the opportunity to openly share their successes and challenges and seek support and assistance for their ongoing work and upcoming initiatives. The Mission and Ministry Committee, in turn, submits a monthly report to the Vestry providing an update of the current status of each community ministry and whenever necessary, request, in the form of an action item, further assistance and support from the Vestry.
